Question of the week: How do I use the online directory search function?
Once you log into shyc.com you can access our online directory through the "directory search" links (found in the quick links sidebar, member landing page, and through the member center). There are several attributes you can use to search including first/last or household name, child's age, and sailing school class.  Does your child want a playdate with that nice kid from sailing whose first name starts with the letter "J"? Just select the sailing school class your child is in and any part of the first or last name you know!
Email us with more questions by replying to this newsletter.

A note about Directories and Profiles: Calendars and Directories were mailed to winter addresses in Mid-May, please contact Claire Hooper if there were any issues with your delivery. If you need to update your information, please fill out the contact info form here. Please note we use this information for the directory listings, so please do not change the contact names on your profiles (as in putting one spouse's name in two different profiles), each member of your family should have his or her first name listed in a unique profile.

From LUNCH@SHYC Committee
Sundae Bars for Seamen and Hermits next week!

Bring your bag lunch to the Club, but don't worry about dessert on Monday when kids can make their own sundaes (the older kids got this treat yesterday). While sign ups are not necessary, please email me to let me know if your child is coming so I can have enough staff (and toppings) on hand. Other fun (and somewhat sticky) activities planned for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday too! There is a $5 fee for Lunch@SHYC, due to staffing costs. You will see it on your bill at the end of the summer.
Join us- we always have a ball and always learn something new! ~Sonja Bartlett

Great job to all the kids who came this week to help the Chatham Shellfish Department with their monitoring of quahog health and growth in Stage Harbor. (Seamen and Mates pictured here)

 You clean up real nice...

Our SHYC beach cleanup crew collected more than 10 bags of garbage on Saturday. Missing from photo: Kristin Loftus- who was deep in the dunes filling her last bag! Join us next time on August 12th!

A Very Special Sail

On Monday July 17th, Jeannette Hermann organized the adult fun sail so that Pat Tarnow could sail with us.  Pat was not able to sail the last two years, but this year she decided to try it with her daughter Suzanne and granddaughter, Sage.

It was a fabulous occasion for all of us who have known Pat for so many years and sailed with her.  She started the adult fun sail program years ago and is an Honorary Member of SHYC and taught so many of us.  You can see by the expression on her face, how much she enjoyed it.  We were all so pleased.  She left for Colorado, where she lives now, on Thursday July 20th.
